Details
Molded alabaster, oil polychromy, antique patina.
In 1895 Lord Frederic Leighton painted what will be considered his masterpiece, Flaming June. The portrayed woman alludes to the sleeping figures that the Greeks often painted and collectively called Venus. Leighton, a painter of a classical nature, very colorful and with a laborious style that gives his works the coldness of marble, professed a pagan cult of beauty, stripping his models to cover them later with tunics and peplos. Thanks to the quality of our modeling we can recreate both the face of the young woman and the elegance of the detail of each fold of her dress. Likewise, we take advantage of the luminosity of the molded alabaster to give this piece a vibrant color.
